Colloquial Indonesian

If you are going to live in Indonesia, understanding the Colloquial Jakarta Indonesian is very important. This dialect is spoken in everyday life. It is the language of inter-ethnic communication among immigrants of other language backgrounds to Jakarta. It diverges markedly from the Standard Indonesian used in speeches and news broadcasts. Standard Indonesian is a written dialect, spoken by native and non-native speakers alike only in the most formal circumstances.

Dong, sih, kok are some of colloquial Indonesian particles. This course will teach you the colloquial features of spoken colloquial Indonesian. It is for students who know formal standard Indonesian fairly well but do not yet know colloquial Indonesian.

You can learn it privately, in a small group or via Skype.
